The colossal errors in school books continue to be the subject of debate in Mozambique, now with the placement that the responsible for this situation is the Minister of Education and Human Development herself, Carmelita Namashulua, who on Thursday, 2, announced the withdrawal from the national education system, of sixth grade books with errors and the suspension of the director of the National Institute for Education Development.
The Council of Ministers has given a 15-day deadline for the commission of inquiry set up to determine responsibility for the errors to present the results of the investigation.
Some sectors of public opinion do not believe that any results will be presented because in this country commissions of inquiry rarely present results of their work.
But in this specific case of schoolbooks, besides the institute that evaluates the textbooks, there is also the figure of the minister herself who gives the approval for the book to be published.
"You have to take internal responsibility," political analyst Hilário Chacate argues to VOA.
He adds that "I don't want to believe the discourse that the culprit is someone from outside, because the one who evaluates the book and decides whether it is fit to be published or not is the Minister of Education and Human Development.
The Minister of Education and Human Development assumed that the errors detected in the sixth grade books, "are errors that shame us, are inadmissible errors and incompatible with what is our mission.
Political analyst Ilídio de Sousa says that the errors were detected by the social networks and not by a duly recognized public or private institution.
"The Ministry of Education and Human Development launches an international call for tenders to select a consultant, who does the individual mobilization of the content review and drafting team, which means that the education of a country is under the responsibility of one person; this is serious," considers that political analyst.
The Ministry of Education and Human Development also announced the withdrawal from the National Education System of sixth grade books with errors and the suspension of the director of the National Institute of Education Development.
