New tolls with new rates...more expensive

As of tomorrow, seven more new tolls will be put into operation on some national roads. New fees to be paid at toll gates also come into force. And they are now more expensive.  

According to a statement from the National Road Administration and the Road Fund, cited by Carta, the table states that class 1 vehicles should pay a fee set at 50 Meticais; class 2, 200 Meticais; class 3, 500 Meticais; and 1,000 Meticais for class 4.

These fees will be applied at the Chidenguele toll gates, on the Xai-Xai-Zandamela section; Nhacundela which covers the Zandamela-Lindela section; Malova, Lindela-Nhachengue section and Mapinhane toll gates, which is between Nhachengue and Pambara, all located in the South of the country and along the List Road, there is also the Camuaza Chenga toll gates, located along the EN7, between Catandica and Changara, in Manica province.

According to the source, these fees will also be applied at the Congerenge toll station, along the EN13, between Lichinga and Mandimba; and at the Utukulo toll station, on the Mandimba/Cuamba section of the EN13, in Niassa province.

National Number 1 (EN1). The communiqué also states that the monthly fees for residents, including semi-collective passenger transport vehicles, are set at 300 Meticais for class 1 and 500 Meticais for class 2.

"Users eligible for the special rates, namely residents of the vicinity of each toll station, including semi-collective urban passenger transport vehicles, should go to the offices of the toll stations or the respective Provincial Delegations of the Road Fund, FP, for formalization and registration," the note stresses, quoted by the portal.

The National Road Administration and the Road Fund recall, in the same communiqué, that the new tolls were installed in the scope of the Self-Sustaining Road Maintenance Program (PROASME), approved by Resolution no. 63/2020, of December 11.

According to those public institutions, "the implementation of PROASME is contributing to the improvement of road transitability and makes it possible to reduce transportation costs, reduce travel time, reduce vehicle maintenance costs, facilitate access to production and consumption areas through timely interventions on the roads financed by the fees collected, and generate permanent and seasonal employment.
