The 4th Anthology of Portuguese-Speaking Poets in the Diaspora brings together 29 names of writers living in Europe, Brazil, and the United States who intend to transmit an "idea of Portugueseness" that goes beyond nostalgia.

The book, which is already on sale, is a "publishing initiative that has contributed to the discovery of excellent poets in the Portuguese-speaking communities living abroad," said Mário dos Santos, editor and head of Oxalá Editora, based in Germany, in a statement.

Mário dos Santos pointed out that the volumes of the anthologies published in the meantime "have given a stage to poetry lovers who until then faced difficulties in publicizing their work.

The 29 poets reside in Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, France, Brazil, and the United States. The preface is by Daniel Bastos, consultant to the Museu das Migrações e das Comunidades, historian and professor.

São Gonçalves, poet and promoter of Portuguese literature in Luxembourg, is the coordinator of the anthology.

"My desire to give voice to those who live outside Portugal, to express this feeling, led me to create, as a criterion, a conductive line that was in this direction, not the one of mere nostalgia, but, yes, an idea of Portugueseness, and this idea lives in the poems that were selected," she said in a statement.

"There are poems that talk about memory, others about the sun, the weather, the sea, and about saudade (homesickness), also about love, but always in a semantic analysis that has to do with the fact of being outside the country and belonging to that portugality," she explained.

The 4th Anthology of Lusophone Poets in Diaspora was published by Oxalá Editora, a book publisher devoted to publishing works by authors living outside the country.
