Mafambisse sugar factory drops production due to devastation of agricultural fields

The sugar factory of Mafambisse, in the Dondo district of Sofala, registered this year a drop in production of more than 300 tons in relation to the previous campaign.

The firm expects to produce around 37,800 tons of sugar in the current campaign, compared to more than 38,200 tons in the previous harvest.

The pandemic crisis, coupled with the devastation of agricultural fields and some equipment-related problems are noted as having contributed to this decline.

According to Radio Mozambique, the information was shared Wednesday by the director for socio-economic development and local affairs at the Mafambisse sugar factory, Albertina Lubrino, during the visit made by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Silvino Moreno, to that firm.

Moreno encouraged the plant managers to increase production levels despite adversity.
