UNDP funds decentralized initiatives project in Nampula

PNUD financia projecto de iniciativas descentralizadas em Nampula

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will continue to support Mozambique in the implementation of the draft initiatives to promote provincial decentralization.

The fact was confirmed this Wednesday, in Nampula, by the Swiss Ambassador to Mozambique, Oliver Burki, at the launch of this project that will cover the provinces of Nampula and Niassa.

Oliver Burki said that in the framework of the Swiss cooperation in partnership with the UNDP, there is an alignment with the five-year program of the government of Mozambique that aims to promote good governance, sustainable development and also the commitment of the agenda 2030, which requires local governments to provide immediate responses to communities.

The UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Mozambique, Francisco Roquette explained that from now on the project will create mechanisms to boost the functioning of the institutions so that the population has access to services without difficulties.

Meanwhile, the governor of Nampula, Manuel Rodriguês, said that this project will contribute to the consolidation of the dialogue on the priorities for improving public services in the provinces of Nampula and Niassa.
