The SADC Troika Extraordinary Summit approved SAMIM's transition from Scenario 6 (Rapid Deployment Capability) to Scenario 5 (Multidimensional Force) with a robust mandate.
Meeting this Tuesday in virtual format, the summit expressed its appreciation to the African Union and International Cooperation Partners for their support in stabilizing the security situation, as well as the socio-economic recovery and development of Cabo Delgado Province.
According to the communiqué quoted by Radio Mozambique, the Summit directed the Head of Mission, in collaboration with the Republic of Mozambique, to coordinate the implementation of a comprehensive Plan for the Reconstruction and Integrated Development of Cabo Delgado.
According to the communiqué, the participants of the SADC troika meeting expressed solidarity with the Republic of Botswana, the Republic of South Africa, the Kingdom of Lesotho and the United Republic of Tanzania over the deaths of soldiers serving in the Mission and expressed words of comfort for those wounded in action.
The Summit was attended by SADC Heads of State and Government or their representatives from South Africa, Namibia, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia.
