The Director of the National Institute of Electronic Government (INAGE), Ermínio Pita Jasse, assured that personal data registered in the 30 Mozambican Government portals remain inviolable, even after the computer attack that affected the gov.mz extension, between Saturday night and Monday morning.

The hacking that the country has suffered has affected only one server, out of the more than 200 that the e-Government has.

"The attack was not on all government websites, but on one part. There are more than 200 servers in service and only one was attacked. As a security measure, we shut down the server, which [then] went offline, which created some concern for some citizens, who tried to access the sites [without success]," explained Erminio Pita Jasse.

The government has set up a team of computer technicians to recover the site safely, but the origin of the hackers has yet to be identified.

Remember that, at the time of the hijacking, the affected portals had a description indicating that it was a Yemeni invasion.

According to Jasse, there was no need for the country to pay for the ransom of the hijacked pages and information, although some people have proposed to retrieve the information against payment.

"There was some panic that alarmed the country and because it was one of the few cases to happen, it forced the authorities to act fast" he said.
