Filipe Nyusi says stability is crucial for the population's return in Cabo Delgado

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi considers that the restoration of stability in the districts of Palma and Mocímboa da Praia, in Cabo Delgado, opens space for the return of the population and the resumption of economic projects.

Nyusi, who was speaking on Monday in Maputo after a meeting in his office with the president and general director of the French oil company TotalEnergies, concessionaire of Area1 said that the more life returns to normality, the population will be back.

For the President, the same applies to the undertakings, since it was not only Total's project that was paralyzed by force majeure, but also many others, such as the roads that were under construction in different areas.

"The question is not whether they resume today or tomorrow, because I had said that Total had not left because they wanted to leave, but rather there was a physical attack at one point. In the same way, the population left Palma, Mocímboa da Praia, Quissanga, among others, not because they wanted to, but because they were afraid of the attacks," explained the Head of State.
