The sector of Culture and Tourism, in Maputo province, will intensify the supervision of tourist resorts in order to comply with the preventive measures against Covid-19.
The measure aims to ensure that the easing of restrictions, such as extending the opening hours of restaurants and bars from five to 21:00 hours and the reopening of beaches from five to 16:00 hours, announced on Wednesday by the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, as part of the public calamity situation, does not lead to contagion in the tourism area.
The provincial director of Culture and Tourism, Ludgero Gemo, quoted by "Notícias, pointed out that a multi-sectoral team composed of the sector, the Directorate of Industry and Trade and the National Inspection of Economic Activities was created to monitor the capacity and observance of the opening hours of restaurants and bars, as well as beaches.
"We also intend to create local committees to manage the beaches so that they are safe places, without crowds and sale of alcoholic beverages," said the provincial director of Culture and Tourism.
Gemo said that with the easing of restrictions in the tourism sector is also expected to increase the movement of domestic and foreign tourists, a fact that will contribute in the economy of the province and the tour operators themselves.
