She is a maid, but every now and then she holds her leash so that her job doesn't get away from her. She walks down the city streets guided by the dogs' piss. When the dogs leverage their paws to pee on tree trunks, she lifts her gaze and inspects the yellow of the piss like a vet. The dogs finish and stamp the pee with muzzles like records officials.
She goes with the dogs all over the city. On the street the cars honk at the dogs and she is stoned by insults coming out of the car windows and she is fighting for space on the sidewalk with the shadows of the dogs. She seems to have a tear trickling down her eyes, but it is only a tear distilled by the smell of onions in the kitchen before she leaves...

The dogs don't obey her, so they always go straight ahead; when they bark at a guard, she tightens her collars more and shuts up; when they put their molars and tongues away, with no more strength to bark, they pull their collars and she feels, out of nowhere, in motion. A maid is like the earth, she must always be in motion.
And she also has dogs that she left at home, there in Chamanculo. One is called Mito and the other one is called Hilário. She takes care of her mistress's dogs to feed her dogs. Her dogs are so skinny, with two hunger collars around their necks and they always bark at the end of the day when she returns: "it's mama, it's mama". Her two dogs spend the day scaring the flies that lay in their dry mouths, and sometimes they inspect the fleas and lice in their hair with their fingernails full of dirt. Mito and Hilário are dogs that raise their antennae from their ears when she returns.

While she is not back home, she takes care of her mistress's clean dogs, tidies up her mistress's house, washes her boss's car, takes her boss's children to the ice-cream parlor and takes the leftovers that her mistress's dogs leave for her two dogs. When she gets home, after the "it's mama, it's mama", she stuffs breadcrumbs into her dogs, runs her hand over their hair and they bark with joy, get between her legs and lick themselves like dogs.
