The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), considered this Tuesday that maintaining the restrictions imposed in the fight against covid-19 will ensure the balance between health and economy.
Following the announcement of the president of the republic, Filipe Nyusi, this Monday, on the suspension of curfews for the days of the Christmas and New Year holidays, maintaining most of the restrictions related to the prevention of coronavirus in the country, the president of the Tourism portfolio in the CTA, Mohammad Abdullah, praised the decision, noting that it will provide an opportunity for the recovery of the damage that the sector has been suffering, due to the negative impact of covid-19.
"This stance of maintaining the measures, that is, the non-worsening, demonstrates the Government's commitment to the need to ensure the balance between health and the economy," said Abdullah who was speaking during the act that marked the launch of the festive season for the area of tourism.
Mohammad Abdullah believes that the measure will ensure economic dynamics and the maintenance of jobs.
"The tourism sector was and continues to be, without a doubt, the most affected by the pandemic," noted the president of the CTA's tourism portfolio, quoted by Lusa.
However, the president of the Tourism portfolio at CTA appealed to the sector's operators and to the population, in general, to receive tourists with affection, making their presence in the national territory as pleasant as possible.
"For our conviction to become a reality, we count on the support of the public sector," he said.
Going forward, Abdullah stressed that the executive's decision will allow businesses to continue operating and to take advantage of the festive season to minimize the losses they have been recording, due to the impacts of the new coronavirus, especially the hotel and restaurant sector.
