Tete foresees five thousand jobs with the Mphanda Nkuwa project

The governor of Tete province, Domingos Viola, who was speaking to journalists Monday in Maputo said the Mphanda Nkuwa dam development project will create at least 5,000 jobs in this initial phase alone.

According to the governor, the province is currently facing serious unemployment problems.

"We estimate that about 70% of the youth in our province are unemployed," he noted.

With the dam project, work on which should begin in 2024, the provincial government is hopeful that the mining sector, the largest employer, can be strengthened in the fight against the lack of opportunities.
