State expels nearly 200 civil servants

Deputy Minister of State Administration, Inocencio Impissa, said that some 200 civil servants across the country were expelled from the State Apparatus in the first six months of 2021 alone, as a result of 784 disciplinary proceedings.

Addressing the central ceremony of the Anti-Corruption Week last week in Maputo, the deputy minister said that 97 civil servants were demoted, 88 fined, 132 received public reprimands, 109 were warned, and 63 were acquitted, all in the course of the reporting period.

Therefore, the official reiterated the state's commitment to fight corruption in the civil service, so "among the most important legal instruments to fight corruption is the Strategy for Reform and Development of Public Administration (2012-2025)."

This legal device is intended to strengthen the industry, provide information about service delivery, and promote an environment that prevents corrupt practices.

The deputy minister stated that in 2020 the public administration filed 1,280 disciplinary cases, compared to 911 in 2019, an increase of 40.5%.

The Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior, Joaquim Denguenhe, said at the event that the mechanisms created to report crimes of corruption have become more operational in various subdivisions of the ministry.
