The executive promises to strengthen enforcement measures in order to reduce traffic accident rates and make national roads safer, particularly during the upcoming holiday season.
According to the Prime Minister, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, who spoke this Wednesday, in the session of questions to the government, in the Parliament, the inspection will include actions to discourage long distance drivers of collective and semi-collective transport of passengers to hit the road tired, a situation that has been the cause of road accidents.
"Excessive speed, fatigue and drunk driving are the main factors responsible for many traffic accidents that occur on the country's roads," the prime minister said.
For his part, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Janfar Abdulai, explained in the same session, that in order to reduce the frequency and severity of traffic accidents, which turn the roads into death corridors, the Executive is conducting a work of education and awareness of drivers throughout the country, especially in the province and city of Maputo.
