Government confiscates a ton of crab and fish caught in closed season

According to the head of the inspection sector of the Provincial Services of Economic Activities of Zambezia, Augusto Dongo, the seizure occurred this Monday, after complaints made by popular on the beach of Zalala.

For this, that responsible revealed that, even in the closed period, some fishermen continue to exercise the activity, especially at night, aiming to escape the control of the authorities. The closed season for fishing with trawl is observed between the months of November and March, while the crab is from November 1 to December 31.

"The seized product consists of 500 kilograms of crab and another 500 kilograms of dried fish," said Augusto Dongo.

Meanwhile, as the source assured, the crab was returned to the sea while the dried fish, a part will be sold in a public auction while the other part, will be offered to social institutions such as hospitals, jail, and old age care center.
