PR launches today Agrarian Campaign 2021/2022

The President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, will launch today the Agrarian Campaign 2021/2022, in the center of the country, with the focus on "increasing productivity and agrarian production" as a means of survival for the majority of the Mozambican population.

The event, which will take place in Manica province, will also serve to evaluate the performance of the previous agrarian campaign, as well as launch "the strategic lines" for the "increase in productivity and agrarian production," according to the Presidency statement to which MZNews had access.

The agrarian campaign is launched under the slogan "Sustainable agriculture 2021/2022 transforming lives".

On the occasion, the Mozambican head of state will also, among other activities, deliver tractors to small emerging commercial farmers, advanced the Presidency.

The Mozambican government, which has defined agriculture as a priority in the Mozambican economy, has pointed to the industrialization of the sector and bets on commercialization as one of its main challenges.

As part of strategies to strengthen the capacity of smallholder farmers and boost industrialization, the Government of Mozambique launched the "Sustenta" program in February 2017, which has been a mainstay of the agrarian sector in recent times.

In this launch, Filipe Nyusi will be accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Celso Correira, staff from the Presidency of the Republic and other state institutions.
