Around thirty-two delegations led by heads of state and government, including former presidents, have already confirmed their attendance at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of national independence, to be held on Wednesday, June 25, at Machava Stadium in Maputo province.

The information was presented today by government spokesman Inocêncio Impissa, speaking to the press at the weekly briefing, according to "Notícias".

Impissa said that the Machava Stadium expects to hold 40,000 people and the rehabilitation and upgrading work is already in its final stages, with the sports facility expected to be ready by Monday.

He also pointed out that the stages, sound system and signage are currently being set up, among other things.

He noted that the doors of the Machava Stadium will open at 6 a.m. for all Mozambicans. The source did not give details of the overall costs of these celebrations, but promised to announce them as soon as possible.
